ABSTRACT

The thesis describes the application of an engineering geological database and GIS for the computer assisted preparation of engineering geological maps and vertical cross-sections in a Quaternary geological area in Sliedrecht, The Netherlands. Borehole data and interpreted CPT data have been used as input for the database. Two procedures have been followed to use the engineering geological database, the Interpolation method and the layers of depth maps method, for the preparation of maps and cross-sections.
